Find Huntington County Inmates

A Huntington County inmate search starts with county jail custody channels, then branches to state or federal systems when a person has been transferred. Huntington County inmate records may involve a local jail booking, a VINE notification record, an Indiana county jail portal search, an Indiana Department of Correction offender record, or a Bureau of Prisons locator result. The Huntington County jail roster search is most useful for current county custody questions, while court cases, state prison custody, and federal custody must be checked in separate official systems.

Huntington County Inmate Lookup

The Huntington County Sheriff's Office is the local law-enforcement and jail agency for county custody. The official sheriff page links Indiana VINE for offender search and notification, and the research also identifies the Indiana County Jail Public Portal as a statewide county jail access channel. A separate official Huntington County roster page with fully inspectable public inmate profiles was not located.

The Huntington County Jail handles local intake, booking, inmate care, discipline, food service, medical access, and daily custody operations. Jailers perform booking and inmate care duties, and the jail has an in-house medical facility with a doctor and full-time nurse. If online search does not answer whether a person is in local custody, the 24-hour jail station is the official local fallback.

For arrest-to-court details, the jail record is only part of the record trail. Charges filed in court, appearances, bond entries, and dispositions are searched through MyCase and the County Clerk rather than the jail roster. State prison and federal prison records also leave the Huntington County jail search path once the person is transferred.

Huntington County Jail Contact

The jail is the local contact for custody questions that are not resolved online. The county jail page states that the facility was built in 1984, was designed for 99 inmates, and averages 100 to 105 inmates through the year. It has 14 full-time and 10 part-time jailers, a working kitchen, jail trustees who help cooks, and medical services through Quality Correctional Care.

Search Huntington County Inmates

Use a layered search because no single portal covers every Huntington County inmate record situation. Current county jail custody, victim notifications, sentenced state custody, and federal custody are separate systems.

  1. Start with Indiana VINE when looking for county jail custody or notification options linked from sheriff resources.
  2. Check the Indiana County Jail Public Portal for county jail public access searching.
  3. Call the Huntington County Jail at (260) 356-3110 if the online result is unclear or time-sensitive.
  4. Use Indiana Department of Correction offender search after a person is sentenced and transferred to state custody.
  5. Use the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator for federal inmates from 1982 to present.
  6. Use sheriff records and county public-records request channels for booking or incident records that are not public online.

That portal is a county jail search channel, but Huntington County custody questions can still require direct jail confirmation.

Huntington County Inmate Search Fields

The research could inspect search-result metadata for the county jail public access channel and SAVIN-related fields. A complete Huntington County public inmate profile could not be inspected in static tooling, so the field table stays limited to confirmed or metadata-supported inputs.

Huntington County Inmate Profile Fields

No official Huntington County roster profile with public record details was available for inspection. The static portal did not render record details, and the research file directs builders not to invent profile fields. The safest field inventory separates confirmed search or custody channels from fields that should be captured only after a live official profile is inspected.

FieldWhat It Shows
NameLikely primary identity field when a portal result is available, but not confirmed in a Huntington sample profile.
Birth DateSearch-narrowing field in portal metadata, not a guaranteed public profile field.
Offender IDSAVIN-related identifier where that notification system provides it.
Case NumberSAVIN-related field where tied to a custody or notification record.
Booking NumberDo not treat as confirmed until an official Huntington profile is inspected.
Charges and BondMay appear in jail or court systems, but court charge and bond entries should also be checked through MyCase and the Clerk.
Housing or Release DateNot confirmed from the public Huntington sources inspected.

Note: A missing public profile field does not mean the jail lacks the record internally.

Huntington County Jail Visitation

Huntington County Jail visitation uses Combined Public Communications. Visitors create an account through InmateSales or call (877) 998-5678 before scheduling. The county visitation page says on-site lobby visits are free, off-site remote visits cost $0.20 per minute, visits last 25 minutes, and visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance.

Visitors generally have unlimited on-site and off-site visits, but on-site visitors are limited to one visit per day. Up to two visitors may be scheduled for a visit, and both must be added when the visit is created. Unauthorized visitors terminate the visit. Huntington County Inmate Mail

Effective January 1, 2024, all Huntington County inmate mail must be sent to the addresses listed by the county jail mail page. Mail sent elsewhere will be rejected. Standard non-legal mail for friends and family goes to a Kentucky processing address. Legal mail goes to the jail address on East State Street.

The county inmate mail source is shown from the official Huntington County Jail inmate mail page.

The mail page is central for inmate contact because it controls the address split and the list of rejected items.

Mail TypeRequired Address Format

All incoming and outgoing mail may be opened and inspected for contraband. Privileged mail from attorneys, courts, and government officials is inspected in the inmate's presence. Mail must include a legible name and return address. The mail page lists many prohibited items, including Polaroid photos, nudity or suggestive photos, alcohol or drug indicators, gang indicators, glitter, glue, stamps, stationery, cash, checks, colored ink, marker, paint, and internet printouts. Photos are limited to permitted photo-paper enclosures, with no more than 10 photos per package.

Commissary and Phone Accounts

Commissary money can be added through the brown kiosk in the jail lobby or online at JailATM. The kiosk accepts cash or credit and debit cards, and it accepts only $5, $10, and $20 bills. The window and kiosk do not make change. Payments may also be made by phone through CPC at (870) 627-5476.

Commissary orders may be placed Sunday through Thursday and are delivered Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. The county jail page also states that money orders and cashier's checks are accepted for inmate commissary accounts through that channel, while cash, personal checks, and traveler's checks are not accepted. After a deposit, a transaction receipt copy is given to the inmate.

Inmate calls are handled through Combined Public Communications. The inmate phone page says an InmateSales account is needed, and inmates may also buy phone time through commissary. The jail page lists prepaid service by phone at (877) 998-5678. The jail does not take phone messages for inmates.

State and Federal Inmate Records

A Huntington County inmate search should move to state or federal systems when the person is no longer held in the county jail. The Indiana Department of Correction offender locator is for sentenced state-prison custody. The county jail does not become the keeper of the state prison record once a person is transferred.

The IDOC source is shown from the Indiana Department of Correction offender locator.

Use IDOC for state custody rather than county jail staff when the inmate has been sentenced to state prison.

Federal custody is separate. Huntington County is in the Northern District of Indiana, Fort Wayne Division for federal district court purposes. Federal district court records are searched through PACER or federal court CM/ECF systems, not MyCase. Federal prisoners from 1982 to present are searched through BOP.

The federal inmate source is shown from the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator.

Federal inmate, warrant, seized property, and federal process records should not be described as Huntington County jail records after federal transfer.

Huntington County Sheriff App Caveat

The Huntington County Sheriff app is documented in the research as an official public-safety communication tool. The store listing says it allows reporting crimes, submitting tips, and receiving public safety news and information. The listing does not enumerate every module, and user reviews are not official documentation. For that reason, Huntington County inmate lookup should not be described as app-only or as an app-confirmed feature unless the county publishes that fact.

The app remains relevant for public safety information and non-emergency sheriff communication. For emergency needs, the listing itself says to call 911. For jail custody, use VINE, the Indiana jail portal, or the Huntington County Jail phone number.
